Types of Lawn Mowers

As technology advances the classic grass cutter has been transformed into many advanced varieties of lawn mowers. These variations make it easier to accomodate those with different needs and requirments.

Here are some of the Lawn Mowers available today:

Rotary

unlike the basic reel lawn mower, rotary lawn mowers use rotary blades to cut the grass. They are mostly powered by internal combustion engines. Some are operated by electrical power. The typical residential rotary lawn mowers will cut the grass and discharge it back onto the lawn or into a bag.

Riding Lawn Mowers

There are several types of riding lawn mowers. You can choose either an electric or gas riding lawn mower. These mowers are primarily used for lawns that are around a half-acre or larger. Riding lawn mowers are also more dangerous to operate then others because of its size and common issues like it tipping over or falling off of its seat.

Riding Lawn mowers are highly defined by the front cutting deck, it is a covering that shelters it's blade. As a golden rule you should select longer decks for large lawns, this will ensure that the blade will also be longer giving the ability to cut more.

Reel/cylinder

These are one of the most common types of lawn mowers. They are basic and can be powered in several different ways. Old fasioned human power is one way to operate them the other is by internal combustion engines. The basic operation of these lawn mowers is a roller with blades that cut the grass.

Hover Lawn Mower

It's all in the name with mower. This type will hover over the ground to cut the grass. Although these lawn mowers may look like fancy door prizes, they are a whiz at handling shrubs and tall grass. This is due to their unique floating ability
